Formed in 2022 by Howard Taylor Jolin and Edgar Wiest, Carcass of a Dead Star emerged from the collision of two worlds; Tacoma’s grim industrial cold and Sacramento’s sun-scorched decay. The band’s sound is a haunting fusion of 1990s black metal’s raw atmosphere and the crushing precision of 2010s deathcore. Ethereal tremolo melodies weave through towering walls of distortion, anchored by relentless blast beats and guttural vocals that bridge despair and defiance. Every track feels like a descent—equal parts cathedral and crypt—where melody is weaponized and brutality becomes ritual.

Drawing on the frostbitten aggression of acts like Emperor and Darkthrone, yet infused with the modern heaviness and dynamic chaos of Lorna Shore, Fit For An Autopsy, and Thy Art Is Murder, Carcass of a Dead Star pushes beyond homage. Their music channels apocalypse and ascension in equal measure, a soundtrack for angels cast from grace. Splitting their creative base between Sacramento, California, and Tacoma, Washington, the duo forges a sound as wide and unforgiving as the distance between them, proof that even light, when buried deep enough, becomes black.
